The AISD Board of Trustees will hold a work session meeting next Monday, February 20, 2012, to consider alternatives to the current consultation policy, DGB (Local). As you know, issues regarding employee salaries, benefits, and working conditions are considered through a consultation process where one employee organization is elected to represent all non-supervisory AISD staff. For the past 12 years, Education Austin has been the exclusive consultation agent. Last December, the Board of Trustees postponed the recertification of Education Austin in order to take some time to consider ways to make the process more inclusive. The Board will consider three options - an inclusive policy, a revised exclusive policy, or no consultation on February 20. They will vote on a new or revised policy on February 27, 2012.
Austin ATPE has long supported an inclusive consultation model where employee representation is shared.
Please take time to show your interest in this issue by attending the Board Meeting on February 27.
